Introduce yourself and tell us what you do at Fizzy
I’m Kassy the Bob at our brand new Fizzy Walthamstow building.
Can you explain what a Bob is?
A Bob is an on-site building or property manager. We make sure that we have a well-run building with happy tenants.
What were you doing before becoming Walthamstow's Bob?
I was actually a Bob at Fizzy Walthamstow! I got the opportunity to come over to Walthamstow and help launch the new building. It was a big challenge but it was very exciting and fulfilling to get on board with. Before Fizzy, I was a property manager for residential and commercial properties in North London. I was intrigued by the UK’s emerging private rental sector and the concept of professional landlords, like Fizzy.
How do you feel about Walthamstow’s Launch?
I am so excited! It has been a long time coming and we have put a lot of effort into making it - in my opinion - our best building yet. I love the flats here and we get the supercool Fizzy Hub where our tenants are welcome to come and work or hangout. I am really looking forward to welcoming our residents and their pets into their new homes.
What is a typical day at Fizzy like for you?
There is no typical day. I walk in every morning and make sure the Fizzy Hub looks great and I brew a pot of our Perky Blenders Coffee (our local coffee roasting partners). From there, my day can go anywhere!
As a Bob, my responsibilities in any one day could include; coordinating contractors, chasing/creating invoices, rent collection, identifying building maintenance issues, dealing with tenant repairs, inventories for incoming tenants or helping residents move in or out. I also organise our Fizzy Walthamstow community initiatives, like planning resident parties, local discounts, benefits and charity projects.
The best part of my day is talking to residents and meeting their pets.
What type of things do you do for Fizzy residents?
Residents are often locking themselves out of their flats, so I let them back in and we have a giggle about this, or I often sign for parcels while they are at work.
At Walthamstow, I was often asked to water plants while people were away. However, I had a tendency to over water, I left Stepney with fewer plants. Sorry!
What do you love about working for Fizzy as a Bob?
I love my residents, my team and the local area.
My team is amazing at thinking up new ideas to make Fizzy even better. Blackhorse lane is such a cool area to work in, it is massively up and coming with lots of creative and new pop-ups coming every day! Also we are so well connected on the tube, the 24 hour Victoria line is just the best, and only 13 minutes to Oxford Circus, even less to Kings Cross.
Fizzy is a pet-friendly place to live. What is it like to work with lots of animals each day?
Hairy. I am constantly covered in hair from hallway cuddles. It’s almost like I have part time ownership of lots of dogs, which is great because I don’t have my own. Not everyone gets to have doggy cuddles during their working day. I’m a pretty lucky lady.
Where do you go after work?
Project 660, for London’s best espresso martini. I have done the research and no one fuses alcohol & coffee like those guys. My tamer alternative is The Local Honey Man, it’s next door and the honey tour involves funky samples like raw Rapeseed & Turmeric honey.
My first introduction to Fizzy Walthamstow was the ‘home of the creative’ mural, opposite Blackhorse Road Station. The piece was created by local business God’s Own Junkyard. We have our very own GOJ installation in the Fizzy Hub but the junkyard itself one of my favourite places to visit. It is best described as a hub of weird and wonderful neon or even better described by Timeout https://www.timeout.com/london/art/gods-own-junkyard.
Finally for avocado themed brunches, lunches and general munches, I head to Wood St Café.
