For many of our residents, the best thing about Fizzy is the Bobs: our dedicated onsite property managers in each of the Fizzy buildings.
Our recent customer survey revealed that a whopping 98% of Fizzy residents agree that having a Bob improves their rental experience and that they love having a Bob on site.
In this blog post, we meet Ha Doan – ‘Young Property Manager of 2017’, according to leading industry publication Property Week – who is about to take up the position as Bob at our brand new building, Fizzy Hayes.
Here's what we learnt...
Tell us about yourself and what you do at Fizzy?
I’m the new Bob at Fizzy Hayes, moving from my current position as Bob at Fizzy Epsom.
What is a Bob?
As we do things differently at Fizzy, our roles are a little different to the traditional Property Manager many people may be used to. We interact with our residents on a daily basis, organise social events for our buildings, collect deliveries and aim to sort out any problems residents might have as quickly as possible. And, we do it with a smile.
Tell us about Fizzy Hayes…
It’s a really dynamic area that’s changing all the time. There are cool cafes all over the place and big brands like the global academy are setting up shop too. The redevelopment of the Old Vinyl Factory will also have a big impact, giving the area another vibrant community. Fizzy Hayes is going to be a major part of that. It’s also Fizzy’s biggest project yet, with almost 200 apartments ready to go. I’m really looking forward to working in a brand new building which has amazing fixtures and fittings, alongside perfect-looking flats.
How long have you been working at Fizzy?
It’s coming up to 5 years now. Gosh time flies when you’re having fun!
What were you doing before you became a Bob?
I’ve always worked in housing. Before this I worked for Thames Valley Housing (sister company of Fizzy) as a Sales Consultant dealing with Shared Ownership, and while at Fizzy I have spent nearly 5 years as Epsom’s Bob.
What does a typical day look like as a Fizzy Bob?
There isn’t such a thing as a typical day in the life of a Fizzy Bob.
We are here to make Fizzy residents’ (and prospective residents!) lives easier. Day to day, we accept deliveries for our tenants when they’re at work and organise maintenance stuff. Weirder requests include being asked to double check straighteners and ovens are off and doors are locked! I’m also there to help resolve any issue, answer questions and even just be around for a casual chat.
The best bit about my day is talking to our residents, either when they are coming in or out of the building, or during the fun social mixers that I organise for them. Petting the dogs is fun too 😊
Fizzy is a pet-friendly place to live. What is it like to work with lots of animals each day, and do you have a favourite?
It’s a lot of fun. It’s nice to be in a workplace that is pet-friendly. My favourite pet is a very cute Chihuahua who lives in Fizzy Epsom. I also really like being asked to check-in on cats and goldfishes if residents are away on holiday.
What’s the nicest thing a tenant has done for you?
My tenants are so lovely. One tenant in Epsom cooked lovely homemade meals for me when I was very busy and had no time for lunch! Another tenant went to Costa coffee and bought me a latte and a panini when I was rushing around.
What do you love about being a Fizzy Bob?
I’m the first port of call if tenants need and want help. I like the responsibility involved in helping people! Property Managers at other apartments normally aren’t on site and don’t get to deal with tenants face-to-face. It’s completely different at Fizzy. It’s more personable and fun here. I can get things sorted out quickly for our residents, and I never have a boring day.
When you’re not being Bob, what are your hobbies and interests?
I love travelling, not just because it’s relaxing, but I also like meeting new people and learning new things in life.
