​Making renting a family friendly experience

In the UK, 1.8 million people with children now rent privately, up from 600,000 in 2003. Landlords need to respond to this trend by offering families a quality rental experience, with terms that suit their needs. In this blog we share five ways we make renting family friendly.

 

1. Put down roots with long term tenancies

 

Short leases lead to uncertainty about the future and not knowing when your home will be taken away is one of the main concerns for families who rent. We believe all renters, just like homeowners, deserve to put down roots. That’s why we offer three-year tenancies, with the flexibility to leave anytime after six months, with two-months notice.

 

2. Making your house your home

 

Another common complaint people have about renting goes something like “No matter how long you live in a rented place, it’s never truly yours”. Creating a sense of home is especially important to families and that’s why we allow people to decorate their apartment. We love it when our residents get creative, from putting up wallpaper to painting walls. Small but important stuff like this helps explain why we have renters living with us for many years.

 

3. A community for everyone

 

For parents with young children, a safe, secure environment is all important. That’s why we place so much value on community. Over the years, as London’s leading landlord, we’ve found lots of little ways to foster a supportive atmosphere. As well as hosting frequent events and social activities to help residents get to know one another, residents can also use the new Fizzy app to chat to neighbours and arrange children play dates, dog walks and summer BBQs.

 

4. Little extras which make life easier  

 

Juggling family life and work can be a near impossible task. Homes need looking after and that’s why we have our own in-house repairs team. So, if something does go wrong, there’s support on hand 24/7. Making sure our buildings are in top condition is a priority for us and at each Fizzy location there’s an onsite management team (we call them ‘Bobs’ for short). Our Bobs are a friendly face when help is needed – from signing for deliveries to sorting spare keys if locked out. Little extras, such as our laundry and dry-cleaning drop off and collection service, help take the hassle out of modern family life.

 

5. Location, location, location

 

Location is one of the most important factors when it comes to deciding where to live. Fizzy has buildings in 8 locations across London but Hayes is our standout family favourite, with a games room and a party room and great local parks a short walk away.
