The Nest is London’s newest climbing wall, located within our Hayes development which is guaranteed to rock your world

The Nest is London’s newest climbing wall, located within our Hayes development which is guaranteed to rock your world

We’re excited to let you know about the opening of our newest neighbour in Hayes. The Nest is a state-of-the-art climbing centre under the same roof as a fitness studio, gym, workspace and café. The crowd-funded setup is the brainchild of Rob and Sam, two individuals passionate about sharing their love of climbing with those looking for a place to ‘socialise, exercise and work in an awesome environment’.

The focal point of the centre is its bouldering wall – which is 70 metres long and 4.5 metres high, making it a perfect activity for climbers of all levels.  Floor to ceiling windows will provide a huge amount of natural light, and an advanced chalk filtering and cooling system will ensure perfect conditions whatever time of year you climb.

Popular not only for its excellent fitness benefits such as it being a full body workout and improving flexibility and endurance, bouldering is also known to be a great stress reliever with meditative effects. Climbers become so focused when doing the sport that nothing else matters, so you won’t have time to worry about that project at work or life admin piling up!

Modern indoor rock climbing has been around since 1960 but in recent years popularity for the sport has skyrocketed with 600 active walls now across the UK. The trend is also mirrored across the globe as it’s now declared a new Olympic sport by the International Olympic Committee. Climbing is being added to the roster for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

The fitness studio will be hosting a jam-packed schedule of exercise classes, such as yoga, pilates and boxercise. With no other gym in the immediate area, this will be a fantastic addition for our residents who want to stay fit in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. The gym will also be kitted out with free weights, bar bells, dumb bells and cardio machines, meaning everything any fitness fanatic would want will be there.

For locals who just want to hang out and socialise with their neighbours, Rob and Sam understand the importance of your caffeine pick me ups and have ensured the coffee available will be next to none. The café on site will be operated by specialist baristas serving delicious snacks and coffee. And those who are going there to draw some inspiration can make use of the open workspace.

We spoke with Rob and Sam (pictured below) from The Nest who explained why they decided to open the hub: “Our love of climbing led us to wanting to share the sport with as many people as we can, and so we wanted to open a centre of our own.

One of the main things we truly love about climbing is the sense of community the sport creates. When climbing you find yourself striking up conversations with the people around you, and we've met some really great people through the sport.

Within The Nest we want to create this sense of community. Alongside the climbing we’ll have a workspace, café, gym and fitness studio. Our hope is the different aspects of the centre will create a broad appeal, bringing people to the centre and introducing them to this awesome sport.”

On the opening weekend, our Hayes residents will gain half-price entry, and each will also get a free induction class.
