In this instalment of our ‘Living with Fizzy’ series, we talk to Ellie Edwards who lives with her partner at Fizzy Walthamstow.
What made you choose a Fizzy Living apartment?
We wanted to move to an apartment where we had space to make it our own and feel at home, even though we were renting. That's exactly what we got with Fizzy!
What attracted you to Fizzy Walthamstow?
We love Walthamstow and after having lived in various other areas of London, we knew we wanted to move back. At Fizzy, we loved how modern everything felt and how safe the apartment and block is. Also, the way the apartment is designed is so lovely to live in, with an open plan kitchen/living room and spacious bedroom. Having a balcony is a massive bonus, especially being able to enjoy al fresco dinners in the summer.
What is your favourite thing to do in the local area/place to visit?
My favourite thing to do is walk to Lloyd Park which is such a lovely space to walk or run around throughout the year. Wood Street Coffee is amazing for coffee and homemade doughnuts and St J’s is also a lovely spot for coffee as well as homewares.
A walk at the weekend to the Wood Street area to visit Chocolatine is amazing - the pastries are some of the best I've eaten. And of course, Forest Wines for an incredible selection of wine. For longer walks, Walthamstow Wetlands and Marshes are excellent options.
How does living at Fizzy compare to previous renting experiences?
Fizzy Living is the best renting experience my partner and I have had. We get on so well with our Bobs who are fantastic.
How easy has it been to get to know your fellow residents?
All the residents are willing to help each other out, especially throughout the pandemic, which has been lovely.
You started a business in lockdown which is great! Can you tell us more about it?
I’m a lino print maker and began Ellie Edwards Lino during the first lockdown. Inspired by my background in food writing, my prints focus on pastries I’ve picked up from my local bakery, cocktails I’ve sipped, plates of pasta I’ve eaten at my favourite restaurants and seasonal ingredients. The designs range from cacio e pepe to negroni cocktails to colourful carrots.
I love how food brings people together and provides such positive memories. Being able to capture that moment in print and make it permanent brings me so much joy.
Each design is hand-carved and hand-printed in my kitchen so every print is unique.
