2021 might not have started the way we had all hoped, but that doesn’t mean we can’t take the opportunity to reorganise, refresh and restart ahead of the coming year.
Whether it’s having a wardrobe clear out, setting achievable goals or making the time to focus on your mental wellbeing, we have collated some ideas to start the year with purpose.
Decluttering your inbox and finally hitting ‘unsubscribe’ on all those newsletters you didn’t sign up for makes for a very satisfying job to start the year with.
2. Set some goals for the month or year ahead
New year’s resolutions are notoriously hard to stick to, but making smaller, more achievable goals is a realistic way of prioritising the things that are important to you. If one of your goals is to increase your daily step count then you’re in luck as many of Fizzy’s locations are near fantastic green spaces and walking routes.
3. Have a declutter
Tackling one room at a time, go through your things and weed out those that you don’t use, or wear. This is a good way to minimise the ‘stuff’ you have around you and creating a clutter-free space is a great start to the year. Why not put some of your unwanted items on the Fizzy app?
4. Resolve to put all technology away 30 minutes before going to bed
Giving your eyes a break from the screen is key to giving your brain the cue that it’s time to rest. Whether it’s reading the book you’ve been meaning to read for ages or simply getting ready for the next day, spend this time winding down and your sleep will thank you.
5. Reconfigure a room in your home
Even the smallest of tweaks can give a room a new lease of life, so why not switch things up and see what works. At Fizzy, we encourage our residents to really make their apartments their home and love seeing how our tenants decorate their space.
6. Set aside time for things that make you happy
Doing something productive and doing something you enjoy might not be the same thing and it’s good to know the difference. With the humdrum of everyday life, it can be hard to remember to keep up those hobbies that bring you pleasure, so carve out the time in your day or week to indulge in them.
7. Quiet time
The list of benefits of meditation is not to be ignored, especially with the challenges we are all now facing on a daily basis. From better sleep to lower blood pressure and a stronger immune system, there is no better time to incorporate a meditation practice into your day. Just 5 minutes a day can make a difference and with many Fizzy apartments boasting a balcony, where better to practice? When the weather is a bit warmer, of course.
8. Get a plant
There are so many reasons why having plants in your home is a good idea. They are proven to aid concentration, reduce stress levels and they look great in any room. If we can’t be outside in green spaces, bring the green indoors.
